The sixteenth Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in Cali, Colombia, from October 21 to November 1, 2024. This crucial gathering will bring together representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector to implement the Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted in 2022, aimed at halting biodiversity loss by 2030 and putting natural environments on a path to recovery by 2050.
Finance Montréal played an active and important role at COP15 in Montréal, held from December 7 to 19, 2022. In particular, the organization helped mobilize the financial sector by co-organizing several events and workshops, including the Finance and Biodiversity Day with the accreditation of over 135 representatives from the financial sector - a first for a biodiversity COP.
COP16 will once again provide an opportunity to participate in the Finance and Biodiversity Day on October 28, co-organized by Finance Montréal, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), UNEP FI, and several other mobilized organizations.
COP15 paved the way for ambitious action on biodiversity, and COP16 now aims to turn these commitments into action.
