Join Finance Montréal at COP16 on biodiversity, to be held in Cali, Colombia, from October 21 to November 1, 2024.
As a member of our delegation of representatives from Quebec’s financial sector, you will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in on-site discussions
- Contribute to advancing the goals set out in the Kunming-Montreal Agreement, adopted at COP15 in Montreal in 2022
While COP15 set the stage for ambitious action on biodiversity, COP16 will aim to turn these commitments into concrete action.
Why participate?
- Finance Montréal has observer status for COP16, allowing it to accredit representatives from the financial sector. Priority will be given to Finance Montréal members and strategic partners.
- COP16 is a chance to take part in the Finance and Biodiversity Day on October 28, co-organized by Finance Montréal, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, UNEP FI, and several other mobilized organizations.
Don’t miss this opportunity to represent Quebec’s financial sector on the international stage, and apply for your accreditation by August 12, 2024, 5 p.m.

Activities will also be scheduled in Montréal during the COP to engage Quebec’s financial ecosystem locally. For more information on the regional hub and to propose activities, click here.
Accreditation:
Accreditation is free, but subject to approval by the CBD Secretariat. Although we do not foresee any issues, please note that we cannot guarantee a positive response.
Initially, please identify 1 or 2 representatives per organization. Additional requests may be possible in mid-August.
Once your accreditation is approved, you will receive a Priority Pass issued by the CBD Secretariat, giving you access to the Blue Zone and the Green Zone for the entire duration of COP16 (October 21 to November 1).
- Blue Zone: area for negociations, the official thematic agenda (including Finance and Biodiversity Day), national pavilions, and government delegations. A Priority Pass is required for access.
- Green Zone: an area open to all, without a Priority Pass, where parallel activities, private conferences, and kiosks will be held. Registration is required for some activities.

Finance Montréal’s team will be on-site from October 25 to 31. However, your Priority Pass gives you access for the entire two weeks of COP16, so you are free to choose your arrival and departure dates.
Demand for on-site accommodation is very high. We recommend that you book your housing (with the possibility of cancellation) as soon as possible. To facilitate your search, consult this platform.
The Blue Zone of the event is located at the Centro de Eventos del Pacifico, about 30 minutes from downtown Cali. A shuttle service will be set up to provide access to this area.
